About us

Try it Vegan is a family affair.

We simply want to give enough information for you to simply TRY some tasty recipes that range from healthy, to satisfying a craving of comfort food to the flat-out high calorie overload.  For some, Vegan sounds weird and the idea of eating something… vegan … well, noses are scrunched up and minds closed.

We were once “nose scrunchers” ourselves.

We invite you to simply TRY it Vegan!  If it’s once a week… once week a year… an entire year or lifetime… Try it!   (Check  our post from May 1st… this will help you to understand our mission.)

TiV Summer MHi Everyone, I’m Maureen (Mo)- the one responsible for starting this entire venture 🙂  As you see, I’m just your ordinary woman, wife and mom who, like many others, have taken a great interest in the food we eat.  I wasn’t always that way.  Not at all.

Now, more than ever, I get asked about Vegan foods and what we eat, why we eat this way and how they can do the same.

There is so much to learn, see and taste and I sincerely mean it when I say that the rewards are GREAT!  It’s not about a destination… it’s a journey and one to be enjoyed.

This choice of a diet doesn’t include meat (yes, that does mean no chicken and fish… shocking) or dairy (WHAT?  No Cheese??  No… and after one gets over the addiction, the body doesn’t crave it and thanks you in the form of great skin and many other ways.)  In fact, our way of eating originated back in 2009 simply because I was doctor hopping, trying to find a cure for an onset of adult cystic acne and after dodging expensive laser surgery and nasty side effects of medication, I learned that my previous diet was creating havoc on my body.  I had picked up Alicia Silverstone’s book, “The Kind Diet” and a journey I never expected to take, began.

This is simply the easiest way for me to pass along my recipes, my finds and brand suggestions that I have come across.  Vegan foods are becoming much easier to find and there are the good, the bad and the flat-out NASTY.

  • If you have someone in your family with a dairy allergy and don’t know where to look, you are in the right place.
  • The perfect site for parents and teens looking for information and ideas!
  • If you are curious as to how to bake without eggs and milk… you’ve got the right spot.
  • Looking for some simple but “delish” recipes for the veggi-licious AND omnivorous?  Look no further…
  • What about kids lunches?  Yep, you will find that here too!
  • …and that is just the beginning!

We are looking forward to beginning our journey and welcome your insight and feedback.  Thank you and continue to follow us!              Question or comment:  tryitvegan@gmail.com

You will notice some family members like to be behind the scenes but the more active participants besides me are Jaquelyn and Nico    20121124_171334 copy

Hey there Maureen and family! I love your philosophy of encouraging people to simply try vegan food. It’s a great, subtle approach to encouraging others to go vegan. I’m already vegan, but I’m always looking to connect with other vegans. Celeste 🙂

Nice to meet you, Celeste and happy to be connecting with others who choose a vegan diet! We appreciate your comment and happy that our “subtle approach” resonates with you and others. Hopefully we can change some misconceptions that others have (like we once did!) 🙂 Best wishes…
